How to Spend One Day in Sedona, Arizona

Our one day in Sedona, Arizona included beautiful hikes, tasty food, drinks with breathtaking views, and a lot of red sand. We visited Sedona in mid-June and recommend if you are camping, to keep in mind how hot it will be. The low for the night was 75 degrees, which made for a sweaty night of attempted sleep! While we loved the day of exploring, we should have either rented a place to stay for the night or visited when it was cooler.

We can’t wait to go back! Here is our one day itinerary for Sedona, Arizona:

  • First off, the drive into Sedona from Flagstaff was beautiful! The contrast of lush green colors and the red rocks made it feel like another world.

  • Our first stop was The Hudson. We were recommended this spot by friends and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a rooftop restaurant with nearly a 360 degree view of Sedona’s red rocks. The bruschetta was amazing and so were the 10/10 views!

Enjoying wine with a view!

  • We then had a tasty meal at Dellepiane Burger Joint, an Argentinean burger and empanada restaurant. This was right next door to The Hudson. While we don’t have a picture of the meal, it was one to remember. We shared the Dellepiane burger (which included our favs of bacon and bbq) and fries.

  • We moved on to our camp spot for the night. We stayed just outside of Sedona on Forest Road 525, a free overlanding camping area. This spot would be even better if we stayed a couple days because it was secluded, peaceful, and had a lot of room. We left in the morning with A LOT of red sand in our shoes and coating our vehicle and bikes.

Our peaceful dispersed camping spot for the night.

  • After finishing our bowls, we were ready to start our hike to Boynton Canyon Vortex (Boynton Vista Trail). We were originally going to hike Devils Bridge Trail, but the parking and backup of cars was crazy. We saw a sign for Boynton Canyon so went a little farther and it was WAY less busy. It was about a 1 mile hike out and back, with a bit of rock climbing at the end of the trail. Our favorite part was as we were sitting enjoying the views, a guy climbed up one of the rocks and started to play music (shown below). It was beautiful and definitely felt energizing and inspiring!

Felt inspired as we listened to live music after our hike.

Once we finished up our hike, we started our journey back home. While our time in Sedona was short, we’re happy to have made the stop and now know that we have to come back to explore more!
